On October 19, 2019, Ark. IPL and Plastic Free Little Rock helped Girl Scouts earn “Make the World a Better Place” badges.
- Scouts made Halloween bats from up-cycled toilet paper rolls.
- Each Scout went home with an Energy Action Challenge booklet from the National Energy Efficiency Foundation, developed in consultation with Patti Springs, Energy Efficiency Arkansas Facilitator at the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality.

1. Since the 1950s, around 8.3 billion tons of plastic have been produced worldwide.
- According to a report from the Guardian, an estimated 8.3 billion tons of plastic have been produced since the 1950s — that’s equivalent to the weight of more than 800,000 Eiffel Towers.
- And only 9% of it has been recycled.
