The turnout was GREAT for a tour of low-impact, eco-friendly homes. Caring for Creation One Home at a Time features Fayetteville homes and residents who are making conscious choices to reduce environmental impact and choose lifestyles in keeping with their values and their faith.
The tour included new homes that have been designed with many eco-friendly features, as well as older homes that have been retrofitted to make them more energy efficient and environmentally friendly.
The Allen home, completed in 2011, features a geothermal system, daylighting, and the use of locally-sourced materials. By contrast, the Lolly home, built in 1908, has been lovingly restored with special emphasis on energy efficiency. Solar panels are featured at the home of Dan & Deborah Coody and at the home of Charles Leflar.
Tickets were $10 and were for sale on Sunday mornings in October at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church In Fayetteville. Tickets also sere available at Natural Building Solutions, 3244 N. College Avenue in Fayetteville during the week, or at Stitt Energy Systems, 1301 South 8th Street, Rogers, Arkansas. Tickets were available on the day of the tour at any of the featured homes.
The tour was a fundraiser for Arkansas Interfaith Power and Light. Proceeds were matched by a challenge grant from the Regeneration Project. Each $10 ticket sold brought $20 to Arkansas IPL which will be used to support the organization’s mission to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy in Arkansas, through education, outreach, and energy efficiency retrofit projects for houses of worship and other non-profits.
