Arkansas IPL intends to:

  • Engage in educational events and forums that promote energy conservation, energy efficiency, clean energy, and renewable energy sources.
  • Provide educational materials and practical support to congregations and individuals. This support might include documentary film screenings, energy audit services, and access to discount-priced energy efficient products.
  • Contact decision makers at all levels of government on pending legislation and regulations.
  • Coordinate efforts with the National IPL office and other affiliate states.
  • Advocate for clean energy, conservation, responsible stewardship of creation in response to global warming, and jobs that are connected to creation care.
  • Include multiple faith traditions in its faith-based efforts.
  • Address climate change through increasing awareness and moving people to action.
  • Strive continually to reformulate for current times the ways that faith, learning, and action are related – how they create a distinctive world view.
  • Attempt to define with faithfulness and flexibility the mission of IPL so that each generation will be prepared for service to God and neighbor.
  • Be a community of critical learners who value diverse cultures and diverse faith traditions.
  • Respect diversity in a way that allows participants to transcend individual perspectives and unite for the purpose of serving God and protecting the environment.
