Completed work at Wofford Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Helena (August 28, 2010) - Patched 2 large holes in ceiling with drywall; converted one of the holes into an attic access; Replaced all incandescent bulbs with CFLs; Installed 2 storms windows with plastic sheathing in windows where original pane was missing or broken; Finished and air-sealed a closet where ceiling and walls were originally missing; Sealed all light fixtures, top plates, and ceiling seams from attic with spray foam; Fixed hanging ceiling panel; Spray-foamed all plumbing penetrations and other large holes to the outside; Caulked nearly every seam in the building; Made a measurable difference in the air leakage of the building – original blower door testing could only achieve pressure difference of about 13 Pascals; blower door testing after work was completed was able to achieve pressure difference of about 25 Pascals
All improvements were made possible by an EERS grant from Interfaith Power and Light and cooperation with HealAR of the Clinton Climate Initiative, Clean Energy Works, Sierra Club and passionate volunteers. Energy efficiency is the quickest, least expensive way to reduce energy consumption, save on utility bills, have more money for ministries, and reduce a building’s carbon footprint.
