Sierra Club, Arkansas Chapter, honored Arkansas Interfaith Power & Light with an Outstanding Achievement Award for leadership in rallying the faith community at a May 23 banquet in Fayetteville. Arkansas IPL was recognized as Organization of the Year with the 2010 Conservation Award. Rev. Leslie Belden, Presbyterian, Fayetteville, accepted the award.

The recognition comes one year after the Arkansas Green Faith Alliance earned the Conservation Organization of the Year Award from Arkansas Wildlife Association.
Both awards were earned during each organization’s first year of operation. Both awards represent the first time a faith organization was recognized by either environmental organization. Both organizations were founded by members of the Creation Care Ministry (Green Team) at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church in Little Rock.
